Lockheed Martin’s simulation and training business unit has a new name and a larger footprint as part of an overall company restructuring. The company’s Information Systems & Global Services business area was renamed Information Systems & Global Solutions to better reflect its focus and scope. Two units within IS&GS — Simulation, Training and Support (STS) and Readiness & Stability Operations (RSO) — along with wholly owned subsidiary Savi Technology Inc., were integrated to form one company named Global Training and Logistics (GTL). Former STS president Dale Bennett is president of GTL.
The creation of GTL was one of several actions Lockheed Martin took during the IS&GS restructuring process, announced in June, including the decision to divest from Enterprise Integration Group and Pacific Architects and Engineers Inc.
The new structure will allow Lockheed Martin customers to visit a single point of purchase for many of their needs, said Warren Wright, GTL’s manager of media relations.

“In a lot of cases, RSO and STS were already working together on contracts, so it made sense to bring them together,” Wright said. “Customers will ultimately see the opportunity to gain capabilities that were at one time separate, now together.”
GTL’s purpose is to provide an integrated focus on life-cycle support, reduce costs and provide customers with a wider range of options, he said. GTL’s headquarters is in Orlando, Fla.
“One of the big thrusts at I/ITSEC 2010 will be to show what the companies bring together and what they can offer now that wasn’t available before,” Wright said.
